Close the New York Tour to Broadway
We're still a long way from running back and running Broadway. In the interim, Tim Dolan has created a series of tours designed to get you started.
A true Broadway savant, Dolan knows a thing or two about the Great Whiteway, and it has become his life's obsession to uncover the dirty little secrets of the Theater District, or even those that aren't so dirty.
Broadway Up Close is led by the Green Team, and all the actors working closely with Broadway's "secrets" and stories. A range of tours will show you the interior and hidden gems of the great theater of the past, such as the magnificent theater that is now Times Square Church.
You'll learn some fun facts about how Tony got his start, about some very determined women and the architect of many theaters, a gentleman named Herbert J. Krip. At each stop, there is more to absorb and you will also find out why some theaters are better for certain types of shows.
Dolan has done so much research on Broadway that he channels the ghosts of Gershwins, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Schuberts as he describes their role in Broadway's history.
It also has a wide range of rare images that are truly amazing. The Broadway Bar Crawl, the Hudson Theater, and the Broadway Ruins are currently on three tours, along with Dolan's Shobunker Belasco, named after a theater.
